AI powers Britain's largest-ever woodland bat survey
Researchers recorded 98 million bat calls across 310 British woodlands over three years, data that would have taken over 30 years to analyse without AI, scientists say. Rare and threatened species, including the red-listed Barbastelle, were found in south-west England. UCL's Kate Jones said open-source AI tools have changed the scale of wildlife monitoring, calling it 'a nice story of AI for good'.
