Bombay HC halts Goa tribal population notification, stalling ST seat reservation

The Bombay High Court at Goa has restrained the Census Commissioner from notifying the estimated Scheduled Tribe population in Goa, likely putting on hold plans to reserve four Assembly seats for STs. Petitioner Edwin Lucio Fernandes challenged the 2025 law enabling the reservation. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the state will urge the Centre to approach the Supreme Court.
